If you knew HOW to have the life and success you want, you’d already have it… Wouldn’t you?

You’ve got to stop the habit of sitting around waiting for “it” to happen or continuing to do what you’ve always done.  Because what will that get you?.... What you’ve always gotten.  You’ve got to be willing to shake things up a bit.

It’s simple, really, obtaining that life you want, reaching your dreams. 

Here’s a great way to begin:

STEP 1. VISION

In order to have or create the life you really want, you must first start with a VISION.  A specific, defined, RISKY view of where you’d like to be in your life.  I say RISKY because it is allowing yourself to dream BIG, to go outside your comfort zone that will amp up the vision and make it potent and powerful, therefore effective.  Many of our clients confess that they walk around with a secret, hidden desire of where they’d like to be in their lives, but have been too afraid to speak it out loud.  This is where the VISION works on you.  By getting brave and by going outside your perception of what’s possible, you begin to get bigger than who you’ve been.  As you share that vision out loud, even though it’s scary, you grow yourself bit by bit, into the YOU that can HOLD that vision.  It’s like growing into your own skin.  That’s how you begin to claim your dreams.

In order to be successful, you must be willing to change… your life… your habits… yourself.

STEP 2. ACT

The second step to SURE SUCCESS is to get into ACTION.  A vision cannot come to fruition through daydreaming alone.  The vision must be broken down into smaller pieces, a series of smaller goals that build on one another to create the bigger picture of the VISION.  These smaller goals are accomplished by breaking even the small goals into ACTION steps.

Nike says it often, "JUST DO IT" but is that really enough?... to "JUST DO IT"?

When it comes to REALLY living the life you REALLY want, I don't believe it is enough... to "JUST DO IT".

In order to live/create/have the life you REALLY want, the DOING that you DO, the ACTION that you take must be EFFECTIVE ACTION.  Not just any action.

The action you take must be in alignment with the more immediate goals, which are in alignment with the big VISION.  That alignment is what makes the ACTION effective.

If your ACTION is not EFFECTIVE, you may as well take no action at all.  Then you’re just doing for the sake of doing and that becomes a rat wheel.  Are you on the rat wheel?  Well, do you find yourself doing what you’ve always done, expecting different results?  Mmmmhmmm.  Time to change things up.  Take new, bold, EFFECTIVE ACTION.

STEP 3. ASSESS

The third, final, and possibly most complex of the three steps to SURE SUCCESS is to ASSESS.  This means to look at the results of the action you’ve taken and assess whether that action has gotten you closer to your goal and vision, or not.  The perfectionist wants the action to be a world unto itself.  But a SUCCESSFUL person is willing to be honest with themselves about where their action is leading.  If what you’re doing is not getting you closer to your goal and ultimately your vision, then IT IS NOT THE MOST EFFECTIVE ACTION.  Therefore, harness the opportunity to learn what you need to learn from your “mistake” (a word demonized in my opinion because we often learn our greatest lessons from “mistakes” making them invaluable to the process of becoming more successful), make an adjustment and continue forward with a newly aligned, refined ACTION.

As you set out to put your three steps into action, I want to offer you some warning and insight about the KEY things that trip people up and have them stop short of their goals and then ultimately short of realizing their vision…

STAY IN A BEGINNER'S MIND

Nobody knows it all.  When/if you find yourself in that place, it is a sure sign that you’re shutting yourself off to valuable opportunities around you simply because you think you know it all.  You will paint yourself into a corner and that corner will get smaller and smaller.  Try NOT knowing.  See how that keeps you open to many ideas and opportunities and ways of getting from A to Z.  There is ALWAYS more to learn and if you come to embrace this state of beginner's mind the joy of continual connection and discovery can be yours.

DON’T DO IT YOURSELF – YOU CAN’T

Success can’t be obtained in a vacuum.
