With the recent launch of our hit deal-a-day web site IndustryDeal.com (which continually features amazing deals from top photographers), we know many of you are taking action to update your headshots and modeling pictures.

Now, if you haven’t taken the time to make sure that your body is ready before your photoshoot, don’t waste your money.

Make this a smart investment by allowing yourself to look your best and feel full of energy during your shoot day.

A Note from Holdon Log:

We are excited to introduce you to Chef Mary as her company Hail Mary is launching a nutrition and wellness division.

Chef Mary is dedicated and passionate, introducing her viewers to tasty recipes with new ingredients that are easy-to-make from your home and even when you are on tour.

We are especially enthused by her entrepreneurial spirit and how she has embraced reaching her fans through her various blogs and webisodes. Stay tuned for exciting and informative upcoming contributions!

Here are 5 simple tips that will make your shoot a success!

#1 - Eat little to no salt four days prior

You always want to look your best when taking pictures and I am as guilty as the next for grabbing a few chips for a quick fix, but the extra salt can lead to water retention which can cause bloating.

#2 - Drink 8 glasses or bottles of water a day (64 oz)

Typically, most people don’t drink enough water which is a shame since water can help flush out toxic build up in your body (i.e. excess salt). A good rule of thumb is to double what you normally drink the day before your shoot and bring water with you to your shoot.

#3 - Stay away from carbohydrates and fattening foods

They can make you feel sleepy and cause you to have afternoon lulls. Instead, eat lean white proteins such as fish or chicken in smaller portions through out the day. These proteins will digest quickly, give you stable energy and help you to take perfect pictures.

In fact, here’s a great recipe for on Cilantro Lime Chicken!

Not a meat eater? Try, this delicious Halibut recipe!

#4 - Stay away from alcohol the night before your shoot

This can sometimes be difficult, but by doing so you will prevent dark circles from forming under your eyes.

#5 - Eat tons of fruits and vegetables

Specifically - blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, cucumbers, green peppers, eggplant, and any other fruit or vegetable that is dark in color. These are loaded with vitamins & minerals. So, plan some snacks in advance and bring them with you to the shoot.
